Welcome to The Gambler Half Marathon and 5k! This is the only sanctioned Half Marathon in Council Bluffs and will replace the Council Bluffs Half Marathon that many of you participated in the previous two years. We are excited to bring you a race filled with fun, surprises, and a chance to test your endurance. The Gambler will be very similar to the two previous Council Bluffs Half Marathons. Course maps and more information will be provided on this site over the next few weeks along with training tips, volunteer opportunities, spectator events, and many more exciting and helpful tools.
We apologize for the confusion surrounding the Half Marathon taking place in Council Bluffs, Iowa. The Gambler Half Marathon and 5K is the only sanctioned running event on May 22, 2011 in Council Bluffs. The City of Council Bluffs, the Council Bluffs Convention and Visitors Bureau, The Council Bluffs Police Department, and the Council Bluffs Chamber of Commerce have put all their resources behind the Gambler Half-Marathon and 5K. Dean Reinke, of Reinke Sports, is marketing a run called The Council Bluffs Half Marathon. This run has NO City permit and NO local assistance from the Omaha/Council Bluffs area. So please DO NOT register for the Council Bluffs Half Marathon. There is strong possibility you will not receive a refund and this race is not a scheduled or authorized race.
